22 Weeks

How far along? 22 Weeks
Total weight gain: Just over a pound. 1.06 to be exact. Right now I’m thankful that it’s been a slow and steady increase, but I’m afraid one week it’s just going to be crazy and increase a huge amount. Eek!
Maternity clothes? Does going out in public in leggings yesterday count?! I’m wearing other maternity clothes on and off – I’m still holding out on switching over to the maternity jeans (as comfy as they may be!).
Sleep:  Need more!! It’s been a fun and busy week which has left me desiring more sleep. I’m sleeping pretty well overall. The dreams are still vivid, though becoming less weird, thankfully!
Best moment this week: A surprise package with books and cute clothes in the mail from Grandma and Grandpa, free baby bath tub, fun night out with friends, free movie screening for Big Hero 6, meeting BJ Novak from the Office and getting his newest book signed for our baby -it’s been a fun week!
Miss Anything? Nope – but maybe I’m just too forgetful at the moment to realize I miss something!
Movement: A little more certain than last week that whatever is going on in there is baby girl moving. I’ve read that she sleeps for 14 hours per day (jealous!) and I’ve noticed she usually likes to move around a little in the afternoon and after dinner. She wiggles the most after dinner (again, assuming that’s not my food digesting!).
Food cravings: Peanut Butter and Jelly and Taco Bell.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope.
Have you started to show yet: Uh huh… Rounding out a little more each week.
Gender: Girl. Earlier this week I read a story online about how the ultrasound tech was wrong – so I’m feeling slightly paranoid! But we have another ultrasound this week so I’m thinking the truth will come out if they were wrong!
Labor Signs: Thankfully no.
Belly Button in or out? In.
Wedding rings on or off?  On, but Than is threatening to make me take them off after accidentally scratching him with it several times this week. Oopsie!
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy.
Looking forward to: The Taco Bell lunch that Than is bringing me!! Haha.

How far along?: 22 weeks
Total weight gain: We got a free “bathtub” for the baby, but it was only a couple pounds. Gotta enjoy being frugal though.
Maternity clothes? Yes.
Sleep: So-so. Wish she would keep all the vivid dreams to herself though. 😉
Best moment this week: Seeing Ru’s excitement when she felt the baby move.
Miss Anything? Not that I know of yet.
Movement: Yes, but I’m still waiting to be able to feel it.
Food cravings: Taco Bell. As long as she doesn’t start craving brussel sprouts I’ll be ok.
Anything making you queasy or sick: This has been a good week of me helping her avoid the queasy aisle.
Have you started to show yet: Yes.
Gender: Girl. Female. Woman. Miss. Feminine. Dame. Gal. I could go on…
Labor Signs: No.
Belly Button in or out? Still in.
Wedding rings on or off?  Still on.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy. I think reading to the baby each night helps.
Looking forward to: The next ultrasound; I hope she moves or at least waves hello. 🙂
Week 22

21 Weeks

She said:

How far along? 21 Weeks
Total weight gain: A grand total of 3/4 of a pound.
Maternity clothes? Yes and no – depends on the day. Speaking of clothes, I was SO excited this week to be able to wear sweaters again in the chilly evenings! I hope this fall weather is here to stay!
Sleep: My weird dreams have turned scary – not fun! Other than that I had been sleeping fine until last night. I was up for 2 hours last night in the middle of the night. Hopefully that will not be a trend – at least not until the baby comes!
Best moment this week: Getting a free bouncer and a really cheap (but nice) baby swing!
Miss Anything? Hmmm… Can’t think of anything!
Movement: I think so. I’m not 100% sure, but if what I’m feeling isn’t the baby moving, then I have no idea what’s going on.
Food cravings: Pizza and root beer!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Still very sensitive to unpleasant smells…like the smell of the gym. Bleh!
Have you started to show yet: Sure have – and it also sure looks like I’ve gained far more than 3/4 of a pound!
Gender: Girl.
Labor Signs: Nope – but thanks to literature given to me from the doctor earlier this week, I now know what I’m supposed to do when I go into labor.
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On. I sure would love to be able to keep them on the whole time!
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy.
Looking forward to: Holding our baby girl, Slightly harder kicks so Than can feel her move, Getting everything around the house prepared and organized (the nesting urge has hit early here!)

Total weight gain: We gained a little weight in baby clothes, a bouncer, and baby swing (online “garage sales” are great for being frugal!)
Maternity clothes?  Yes. Apparently she likes the ones I picked out the most. Who knew?! Well, I did… 🙂
Sleep:  So-so
Best moment this week: Reading bedtime stories, although we need some better books.
Miss Anything? Not that I know of; if she does, she doesn’t complain and I don’t know about it.
Movement: Hints of it here and there, but nothing definitive.
Food cravings:  Bananas was last week, but not sure what this week is or if it’s changed…
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nothing to report this week.
Have you started to show yet:  Yes.
Gender: Still a girl.
Labor Signs: No.
Belly Button in or out? In.
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy. I must still be doing a good job. 😉
Looking forward to: Meeting the baby.

Menu Planning Monday – Week of October 13

It’s Monday. Not only is it Monday, I had a doctor’s appointment AND a dentist appointment today.  And I worked a normal 8 hour day…starting at 6 am.  That means it’s takeout pizza night here! Definitely not the healthiest start to the week, but at least I ate lots of fruit and veggies for lunch!

Monday: Pizza (our fav pizza place runs great weeknight specials M-W – I think I could get used to weeknight pizza!)

Tuesday: Thai Chicken Curry with Brown Rice

Wednesday: Fish Tacos

Thursday: Swiss Steak, Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans (leftovers in the freezer from Mom’s visit!)

Friday: Spicy Sausage Pasta Skillet

Saturday: Crunchy Chicken Tacos

Sunday: Pulled Pork Sandwiches

20 Weeks – Halfway there!

Halfway! That is exciting and scary all in one! Wow wow wow! I’m guessing the first half goes by faster than the last half, seeing that for the first few weeks you don’t even know you’re expecting. I guess we’ll see. Either way we cannot wait to meet our baby girl – but we’re enjoying the months leading up to her arrival as well! Baby girl is now the size of a banana. Here’s the latest update on how things are progressing.

She said:

How far along? 20 Weeks
Total weight gain:  The weight gain is starting – just like the doctor said would happen at 20 weeks. Miraculously my seemingly large belly has only gained me a grand total of 0.25 pounds!

Maternity clothes?  Sometimes. Not a complete necessity but maternity clothes look a lot better than many of my now awkwardly fitting normal clothes.
My dreams are getting wackier and wackier – and I think the best part is that now Than is having weird dreams too! Haha. Makes for some funny stories every morning.
Best moment this week: Reading books to our baby in her room each night before bed. Or Than’s little conversations with her. So cute!
Miss Anything?   My energy. I’m definitely feeling a little bit tired – though I am still more energetic than the first trimester – that is for sure!
Movement: Nope – I don’t think so.
Food cravings: Candy Corn (does that even count as food?!), Hot Tea, Pizza
Anything making you queasy or sick: A little queasy on and off this week – not entirely sure the cause.
Have you started to show yet:  Yes – noticeably more so in the past week! I was at a conference for work earlier this week and a lady working at the MOPS booth brought me a bag – that’s how preggo I look! I’m kind of glad to be getting into the stage where I’m clearly pregnant and not that stage where people stare and wonder if I’m pregnant or just eating cookies all day or something. Let’s hope it’s not a result of the candy corn!
Labor Signs: Nope.
Belly Button in or out? In.
Wedding rings on or off?  On.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy!
Looking forward to:  Our little “babymoon” to San Francisco next month, cooler weather, baby kicks and movement.

He Said:

How far along?: 20 weeks
Total weight gain: We’ve been holding steady this week.
Maternity clothes?: Yes, and they are the most comfortable clothes apparently. Perhaps I should join in the fun and get myself some maternity clothes? Perhaps a t-shirt that says: “Daddy’s awesome”? Yeah, I think that’d be super comfortable! 😉
Sleep: …with very vivid dreams!
Best moment this week: Talking to the baby.
Miss Anything?: Hmmm. Can’t think of anything, and understandably so since I faithfully fill her every need. (Definitely no sarcasm there….)
Movement: No.
Food cravings: We’ve been buying bananas more than we ever have in the past… Glad someone is eating them!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Let’s just say it’s my job to empty the trash.
Have you started to show yet: Definitely, and the maternity clothes make it pretty obvious.
Gender: Girl. Pretty sure that’s not going to change from here on out so I’m in favor of skipping or removing this question go forward…
Labor Signs: No. But every time she says her back hurts it makes me concerned…. I’ve heard some bad stories about back labor.
Belly Button in or out? Still in.
Wedding rings on or off? Still on. Hey, that rhymes with the previous answer! It’s the small things, right?
Happy or Moody most of the time: With the daily massages, regular ice cream snacks, and me taking out the trash, I don’t know how she could be moody! I set the bar high for the hormones. 😉
Looking forward to: The next ultra-sound to see how much our Baby Girl has grown!
Week 20

Menu Planning Monday – Week of October 6

Our schedule is back to normal – no visitors, birthdays, etc. this week.  That means I’m back in the swing of cooking as usual. After a lot of eating out over the weekend celebrating my birthday and Than’s birthday, it will be nice to get back into a healthier routine this week – though I am pretty sure Baby Veltman appreciated all the treats. She especially likes sweets!

Monday: Mexican Rice Bowls with Chicken (made it on the menu last week – never made it to the table!)

Tuesday: Spaghetti and Turkey Meatballs with Salad

Wednesday: Seasoned Pork Loin and Asparagus

Thursday: Potstickers and Stir Fried Veggies

Friday: Chicken Sausages and Potatoes (and a veggie TBD)

Saturday: Mini Tortilla Pizzas and Salad

Sunday: Pumpkin Waffles and Turkey Bacon

19 Weeks and Counting

As I typed that it made me think of the show “19 Kids and Counting”.  No, we are NOT planning on have 19 kids. I can’t even imagine… Here’s the update at 19 weeks!

She said:

How far along? 19 Weeks (and counting)
Total weight gain: Holding steady…ish. Lost 1 pound from last week. Still enjoying it while it lasts! Birthday weekend might do me in though – so many treats with my birthday and Than’s birthday both being this weekend!
Maternity clothes? Sometimes wearing maternity shirts and dresses. Still wearing my normal jeans (the baggy ones)
Sleep: There’s been a lot of excitement this week which makes it hard to sleep sometimes, but overall I am sleeping well.
Best moment this week: Definitely finding out that we’re having a girl. It makes it SO real.
Miss Anything? Nope.
Movement: I don’t think so. Baby girl was all cuddled up during the last ultrasound and wasn’t really moving too much, which makes me think she likes to just stay all cozy which is why I’m not feeling her much yet. And she’s still small – about the same weight as a can of soda apparently.
Food cravings: Bananas! And maybe chocolate…
Anything making you queasy or sick: Not really.
Have you started to show yet: Yes – the belly continues to round out nicely.
Gender: GIRL!! (We were both wrong!)
Labor Signs: No.
Belly Button in or out? Innie – forever and always… Ok, maybe not, but at this point its’ definitely still in.
Wedding rings on or off?  On.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Oh a little of both. But happy probably wins out!
Looking forward to: The first time Than gets to feel baby girl move!

He said:

How far along? 19 weeks I think.
Total weight gain: Not so much this week, although we did buy a few clothing items for the baby.
Maternity clothes? Nothing new this week.
Sleep: Vivid dreams and frequent bathroom trips… That’s all I have to say.
Best moment this week: Seeing my daughter for the first time at the ultrasound!
Miss Anything? I suspect she misses not having to get up so much in the night to use the bathroom….
Movement: Not yet, but highly anticipated in the coming weeks.
Food cravings: Chocolate was mentioned a little more frequently than usual this week.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Apparently, seeing me drink juice while eating is a new source of queasiness. But how else am I to cool of my burning tongue without opening my mouth?
Have you started to show yet: Yep! I’m still “podgy” too.
Gender: Officially confirmed as a girl this week; now I know I can never trust Ru’s instincts again. 😉
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? Still in, but I have a gut feeling this is going to change really quickly soon. Then again, instincts can’t be trusted so…
Wedding rings on or off?  Still on, and I no longer have to worry about another boy in her life.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Definitely happy this week with the news of a baby girl.
Looking forward to: Holding and dancing with my beautiful daughter.
